Back when I was working the phones for Trimble Navigation I got a
call (radio through ATT) from a women who was in some real
trouble.
The boat had just been hit by lightning and her husband was
unconscious on the deck.
She asked me how to get the GPS (Trimble Navgraphic II) to talk
to the autopilot, how to get the route planned, how to... you get
the picture.
I helped her reset the Trimble unit, the radar, the autopilot,
and plot as course to the nearest port. Then I told her to radio
the Coast Guard. She was certainly in need of some help.
After that experience it became clear to me that any man who
takes his mate to sea without education on the boat's systems
does NOT love his wife!
Just MY two cents worth...
