We have installed a Guest Beamer remote spot/flood combination above
our bow. Works great. We used to mess with handheld spots, but trying to
navigate at night and put the spot on a buoy ahead or day mark or
whatever with a handheld versus a permanently mounted remote spot is a no
brainer. There is no comparison for stability of the light and
essentially no-hands operation. Their advertising claims this unit is
twice as bright as a 1 million candlepower light. I don't know if that in
fact is true, but it works for us at considerable distance.

I understand the convenience of a remote, but with a somewhat mixed
    service
record for remotely controlled lights, and 1.5 million candlepower
rechargeable handheld spotlights selling for $10, the choice was easy for
    me.

    Cheers, Garrett
