>>>The 2 micron filter discussion is fascinating. However, there issomething I
don't understand. How precisely a 2 micron particle can hurta diesel engine?
Can someone help with this "dumb" or basic question? Itis something related to
pollution? Can a 2>micron>30 particle cloganything in the engine?John<<<I
recall the industry target for injector orifice size as being 50-mm. Reducing
the orifice diameterpromotes fuel atomization to reduce soot and improve
combustion. This requires some fancy manufacturing techniques that are helping
reduce orifice sizes that when coupled with electroniccontrol yield improved
efficiency and lower emissions. So a 2-mm particle would still pass thru the
fuel system. Some particles larger than the orifice size may be forced thru if
softenough. Particles cause wear thus the higher pressures and more refined
mechanical parts in current fuel delivery systems like cleaner fuel.Doug
