Bluewater Marina in Portsmouth is a good place to enquire as the owner is a
great guy and very knowledgeable. A diver he recommends might be cheaper. It
cost me $150 (min charge) to change a single large propeller here in New
Bern. They can refer you to a reasonable prop place.
Atlantic Yacht Services (AYS) is a reliable place for a quick-haul.Do not
get the props repaired in Norfolk/Portsmouth through AYS as they use overly
expensive Wildcat Propellers and tack-on 15%. My Wildcat bill to change the
pitch on a new prop was $462! Same prop damaged cost me $90 to repair in
Beaufort, NC.
AYS also has a courtesy car for your use. I assume that you are headed
North. There is a good propeller place at Herrington Harbor North, on the
West side of Chesapeake Bay. Perhaps someone knows of a reasonable place in
the Norfolk area.
