Logical conclusions for my filters are:
Observations:
Racor calls the 30 micron filter (turbine series) a primary filter; calls
the 10 micron filter a secondary or primary filter depending on your engine
manufacturer; and calls the 2 micron filter a final/secondary. They repeat
this for all their diesel filters.
Water is the most important contaminate to remove from marine fuel. Dirt is
second. Primary filters are those designed to remove the most water.
All the diesel makers (all of them) use only slight variations of the course
primary and fine secondary filtering models. If you know of an expectation
pls tell me. Perhaps Ford Lehmans? I will report to the list.
I didn't study fluid mechanics or particle mechanics in school. But the
folks at Caterpillar and Detroit Diesel and all the other makers have. I
cannot second guess so universal a choice.
Skooch is 30/30/2 Racor/DD Primary/DD secondary.

I have to throw in one hear-say story that sticks in my mind.
A very good mechanic told me to change the Detroit's filters every time you
change the Racors. He said the one who changes his oil, fuel and air filters
the most will get the most hours out of his engine.
