Hi, Bob:
We do 99% of cell (phone and aircard) from the pilothouse. It has a 360
degree view, so that's where we "live." Unlike most trawlers, we have a 20'
aluminum mast, with forestay, backstay and four struts, directly overhead. That,
coupled with aluminum outriggers port and stbd make for poor reception unless
we are plugged into the masthead antenna.
Regards,
John

Lest everyone start running out to buy antennas and amplifiers, I get the
same result as John with just a cellphone. (I have not been up the Hudson.)
