    If Ric is going to buy and activate a new card, then he should get a 3g
    card such as the Sierra 860; it will pick up the lower speed networks
    if a high speed one is not available. $99 bucks with a plan. They have
    high speed coverage in the urban Bay Area, and mid speed EDGE service
    through most of the NorCal inland waterways. Ditto Verizon and their
    EVDO/1xRTT network.

    cel cards are usually sold by cel companies. check the Verizon, Sprint
    or
    Cingular web sites... I use a Sony Ericson GC82, probably outdated now
    as
    it's 18months old... :-(

    even if you can find them on ebay or elsewhere, they shoudl have specs
    on
    their sites.
