(SNIP) Having built an average of 4000 business PC's a year, I find this to
be
the best solution to keep a critical application up and running. As with
business PC's, nav PC's should only run the absolute bear minimum of
software. Get another PC for everything else. Create restore cd's often.
Having been responsible for over 45,000 desktops for many years, I can tell
you there isn't enough money on the planet to have a stand alone PC for
every critical business application. The point of having multi-tasking
"confusers" is to be able to run multiple mission critical applications
concurrently.
All us navigators need to get over ourselves! It's only an application.
The GPS position data comes in so slow you can read it off a hyper-terminal
screen and the rest is mathematics. An operating system with over 30 million
lines of code can handle it!
