David,
this happened to me.
I was told it was not good.
Luckily, the zincs were on equipment easily removable from my engines
so I spent a long weekend taking those parts off and removing the old
zincs "mechanically."
Never thought to ask if there is a better way. Hopefully, there is...
To prevent recurrence, I found that if the new zincs went in without
any binding at all, and if I checked them once or twice a boating
season, they never got stuck again....
I am pretty sure the PO never checked them..... Not 100% sure...

I am a fairly new boater so this may be a dumb question, but here it
goes. Today, I tryed to check and replace my pencil zincs on my main
engine and gen set. In both cases the zincs were not attached to the
bolt, but were solidly attached where they protroud into their
respective casings. Is this ok? If not, how do I get them out, as
they do not seem to budge. Looking for comments from those of you
who have been there, done that. Thanks.
