We bought the Mirage model Hobie SUV tandem model. It has been too
cold so far to use them much and we have been traveling every day. We
did use it in FL before we left and in Wash DC. We like them very
much. It will be great when the water is warm enough to play with
while swimming.
Comments about not being safe in very cold water. I would rather be
able to climb back on in cold water if I tip over than have to bail
try to get into a regular kayak.
Being a big buy I find the sit upon easier to get into and out of.
Pro
Peddling is fun and efficient. You can paddle too
You can add a sail
It is VERY stable and easy to get into.
Con
Water can come up through the peddle opening if heavily loaded.
It is a bit heavy and unwieldy to launch by one person (I have to use
the winch and boom when solo.
