SNIP " old 453 on Invader has the oil filter mounted upside down. The
canister is much like a fuel filter but turned pointing up ( my guess for
fit and access in the basement ) . Very messy when changing oil"

Yes - one of the first things I did when I bought the boat was to replace
those wretched things with cartridge spin offs and replacing the Fram fuel
filtering system - I'm not sure how the PO put up with them. I got my
conversion kits from Covington Diesel in NC. Very well informed people. Call
Jesse Jones 252-504-2185. You could go to the remote conversion but that's
more expensive and if your engine room is like mine it wouldn't leave enough
room for me to get in. Incidentally I had no problem fitting the conversions
from Covington for both the oil and fuel filters on the engines themselves
unlike some other listees postings on this - not sure why.
