T&T: Engine to Water Heater Connection

    You want to set up a parallel water path to the engine thru your heater so
    water flows thru it and the normal engine component route as well. But don't
    parallel the coolant pump. A series connection might restrict coolant flow.
    Find out how a truck or bus compartment heater is connected to its engine and
    copy that.

    I know the diamond shaped plates you refer to but it's been a long time since
    I've seen them up close. Many series 71 engines have available pipe thread
    connections available. Most experienced marine mechanics would be able to show
    you specific connection points.

    It's not a bad idea to set up a valve at each end of your heater connections
    just in case the heater develops a leak...then you can just shut the valves
    off and proceed as normal.
