Well, despite having heard from Raymarine promptly upon their receipt and test
of my plotter six days ago, it still hasn't been returned to me.
In the interim I bought and received a used Raymarine 620 chartplotter from
e-bay, and a power cord for it from Raymarine. Where is my plotter??
And no word yet on my Standard Horizon plotter, also returned to the factory
for testing.
Anyway, since Raymarine told me my 120 GPS antenna is likely "worn out", as I
posted previously, I have been searching for a replacement.
While the color codes among brands ARE different, I can't even figure out if,
for example, a Garmin or Furuno or Interphase GPS Antenna will work with my
Raymarine plotter. It fact antennas from those manufacturers barely specify
GPS, DGPS or WAAS. I finally found the Furnuo was upgraded to WAAS in 2003,
but Garmin doesn't say...
So I'll likely be saddled with another $279 Raymarine GPS antenna outlay, this
time for the 125 antenna which replaces the old 120. At least I know they are
compatable.
Of course the new cables and connectors don't match the old display...that
would be too easy..but at least Raymarine carries the old power cords and GPS
connector....
Meanwhile I grow older,
