It works just fine. Every time I have to make my increasingly often visits to
the head in the middle of the night, I close one eye before turning on the
light. When I'm done, I turn off the light and open my closed eye. It is still
dark adapted enough to find my way back to the bed without bumping into the
furniture. Try it. It works.
