I have just got my Floscans more or less working after a year of
frustration. I agree.
Aside from whether you need to spend 2-3K to learn something you
already know (slower is more economical), fuel flow measurement on a
diesel engine is a very hard problem. On my Detroits, I will
typically see about 50 gallons per hour flowing in and about 45
gallons flowing out. A one percent error in each of those
measurements can easily inflate to a ten percent error in the
difference between the readings. If you have two Floscan meters,
they will hardly ever agree. Even for non-compulsives such as
myself, this is annoying. If I had it to do over again. I would
only buy one. Or probably none at all.
