Ron, re your query below, sometime back I asked how to get creosote off of
fenders and received many replies, most of which I dutifully tried, including
lighter fluid and brake fluid. Many things will take the caked creosote off
and insure that it will no longer be transferred to the hull including lighter
fluid and brake fluid, but nothing would remove the creosote stain (although I
didn't try lighting it). The second best suggestion was fender boards. The
best suggestion was black fenders. The Admiral wouldn't go for black fenders
since all our accents are blue so we compromised on "cobalt" which is an
extremely dark blue offered by both Taylor and Polyform.

Subject: T&T: Brake Cleaner
A while back I had a reply from someone on the list concerning some
cleaning project that I had posted (I think). They recommended CRC Brake
Cleaner in the red can with TCE--- I know this because I have a
semi-legible post-it on my bulletin board with that product name --- but
my memory bank has crashed and I can not remember what the heck this was
for or in fact how to use it -- does anyone have an idea??!!
