In regards to Dale Klahn's unit with comments about 50/60 hz airconditioners.
I have just talked to John Barnette at Cruisair in Virginia. The
Cruisair web site shows 230 volt airconditioners as being able to run
on 50 or 60 hz. John tells me that they have had failures with units
that are supposed to run on either frequency. In other words, the 50
hz machines have to be run on 50 and the 60 hz ones on 60 in spite of
what is presently posted on the web site. Since this is all a bit
confusing, I have deliberately posted the contact at Cruisair in
order to make it easier for anyone to get clarification, if they want.
It so happens that the unit that Dale has is a 50 hz unit, it is
about 25-30 years old and most likely is using R-22.
Dale's unit should not be run on American power at 60 hz as it will
almost undoubtedly fail. I am sure that Dale was not aware of all
this. This is going to make it difficult to make use of this unit as
it will not run on an inverter.
