Brent,
I just purchased a 1983 40 Albin that I believe has the same issue??
And
the PO also has that stupid helm chair stuffed on the bench like you
describe....that is way to high I might add.
Anyway, since my wife is a
capable seamstress (that's her profession) we
plan on making a simple
box/cushion to replace the current cushion for
both the forward facing
benches. Not exactly sure what height we need
yet, but something like a 2 or
4 inch would be perfect I'm thinking.
We made seat cushions similar to this
for our old Mainship and they
worked out great.
If anyone is familiar
with the Albin 43's, you may be aware that the
flybridge seating sucks, to
put it in plain English. I've seen every
cobbled
up cure for this, but never
seen it done where it works well and looks
good.
The problem is the built in
seating is so low, that when you sit
anywhere on
the bridge you can't see
over the windscreen. I can't imagine what the
builders were thinking when
they built these seats. The PO of my boat
mounted a helm chair on top of the
existing seat. It worked, sort of,
but
didn't look very nice.
