Taid's Inn is a 32-foot semi-displacement Chesepeake Bay fishing hull.
She displaces a little over 9 tons. At idle, she runs about 3 knots,
and puts out a ripple. At 1,200 rpm (about 8 knots) she leaves a wash
of about 9 inches. At cruise (about 2,600 rpm and 14 knots) she puts
out a wash of about 2 feet. I have yet to run her wide open.

My first boat was a full displacement, double ended, wooden hulled twin
diesel cruiser with a canoe stern. At 49' 6" LOA she displaced 24 tons
of which 4 tons was a lead keel.
Despite this weight the beam was only 10" 6". Her twin Perkins each
produced 65 HP and at full throttle she ran 10 knots max. Fuel burn was
3 gallons per hour.
I could run in past the yacht club at Hanlan's point Toronto at full
speed and barely raise a ripple. Maximum wake at that speed was less
than 12", thanks to the canoe stern.
But it looked like a vintage boat, almost like a converted troller.
Except it wasn't.
It was custom built in England for a discerning client who used it as a
day boat from which he watched his six meter sailboat race in
competition. The boat was operated by a Captain and steward. Their
quarters were forward in the bow.
