(SNIP) Geosat Mobile WiFi . I'd be interested what Jeff Siegal and Phil
    Rosch think....

Clearly, $1,300 is a little pricy IMHO for a 10db omni directional antenna
constrained to 802.11b and complicated by some proprietary software. I'll
stick with my Hypergain Technologies $69 antenna (HG2412U-NF: 2.4 GHz
High Performance 12 dBi Omnidirectional Antenna) and my Proxim Orinoco B/G
PCMCIA card and let XP worry about the networking.

As for distance, my best performance with the 12 DB gain antenna was
anchored in Marsh Harbor and running off a server in Scotland Cay, almost 7
    miles.

Some folks mount a home made "cantenna" (way cheap) to their Follow-Me-TV
satellite tracker and use the focused antenna and tracker to lock on to a
    hot spot at anchor.

                                              Regards....
