Relative to other cruising ports on the Cheasapeake, Annapolis City dock's
fees are higher than most, I believe $2/ft. Relatively low would be the
city docks at Baltimore, $1/ft and $3 a cord.

"The "Ego" aspect comes from showing off one's ability to enter the narrow
stretch, with barely enough space for two vessels to pass, and make the turn
around in the confines of a very small turning basin at the end without
running aground."
Reply:
Can you really run aground? We make the trip up the alley at least once a
year and no one has ever mentioned shallow water as a threat.
BTW, Annapolis is truly a port not to miss if you're on the Cheasapeake.
The town and the Naval academy are worth the visit. Of course, the in water
power and sail boat shows are probably the best on the east coast north of
Florida. There's a free anchorage in front of the academy and this is the
only place, besides ego alley, for boats longer than 45'. There are also
numerous city owned moorings available. All are first come first served.
