That sounds like a lot of work. A bartender at Peace n' Plenty in Georgetown
taught me a better way years ago. Put live conch, shell and all in the
freezer over night. Next day put it in a bucket of seawater for a while. Grab foot
and pull, conch will come right out. An added benefit is a shell without a
hole. Try it!
