Aha!--- the tourism bureau has even you fooled Arild. I learned from a
very reliable source that the contract is not to paint the snow green
but to paint the MUD green. That's another dark secret out here--- go
ashore in a marine park or anchorage and you will instantly be knee-deep
in mud. Take a look at the old logging photos from the late 1800 and
early 1900s with the guys slogging through deep, gooey mud and muck..
It's still like that here--- we've just gotten very clever at making it
look like grass or snow or pavement. The Fraser River which drains much
of the lower BC mainland dumps about 500 bazillion tons of mud into the
Strait of Georgia every year. Guess where a lot of that mud goes.
Straight into the raw water intakes of our boats where it reduces the
life of impellers to about three hours. I'm telling you, it's an evil
place......
