When considering electronic control engines, note carefully the location of
the electronics (it should be high up on the engine) and ask the
    manufacturer
"can it be placed underwater and STILL be "waterproof"...At a recent boat
    show
that stopped a sales pitch right in it's tracks...I have seen electronic
controls knocked out by water spray from its adjacent twin engine partner. I
    told
the rep I would not buy the engine because the electronics box was down near
the bottom of the engine apparently subject to all sorts of water attack.

Let's see what else listees offer....

On the John Deere and other electronic engines I'm familiar with the control
unit or ECU should never be mounted on the engine it should be mounted to
the boat as high as posable and away from sources of water heat vibration and
    strong magnetic fields.
