Ron - In addition to standard power tools, I also have
a small Porter Cable laminate router (laminate
trimmers are quite small, easily handled with one
hand, with a small base plate). I bought it several
years ago when I installed Corian counter tops on my
Willard 36. While I only use it occasionally, the
small size makes it easy to store and it squeezes into
tight spots much better than a full size router. The
small bit aperature makes it better for fine-edge work
where a standard router tends to roll-over and dig the
bit into the wood. Of course, it cannot take the full
compliment of bits a full-size router can, but it
takes more than enough for small boat projects like
reproducing trim, making bookshelves, building
fiddles, etc.
I also carry a Makita electric die-grinder. I use
small metal cutting wheels and buffing wheels for
de-burring. Like the laminate trimmer, it's only
occasionally used but handy when called upon.
