    Would like some recommendations on strainers ...
    Frankly, I would not fuss with your plastic strainers....My only concern
    would be overall strength...If a medium strength pull by hand doesn't break one,
    they'll likely be fine. Unless you suspect some flaw, they should give many
    years of service and no corrosion problems. By corrosion problems, I'm primarily
    thinking of crevice type corrosion resulting from inferior alloys. I have seen
    center thru bolts completely eaten away on Far Eastern made strainers;
    whatever you do, buy a reputable made in America brand unless you have first hand
    expertise in a foreign make.
    That said the most common failure I've seen in American Brands are stainless
    steel strainer baskets which corroded thru...not the end of the world.
    Replacements are usually avaialble. Further, when you install a typical bronze
    housing with SS strainer, you'll have to decide whether to bond it if your boat is
    so equipped, which is likely. Frankly, I'd personally leave bonding wires off
    (disconnected), but I think ABYC rules still call for bonding. Prior posts here
    on T&T discuss pros and cons of bonding intakes and strainers.

    I have never added a new strainer myself , so I'll leave specific
    recommendations to other listees.
    Let us know what you decide and the factors in your decision,
    good luck
