We would certainly like to hear from the folks who have figured out how to
    stop
    this water intrusion.
Comment: Not so easy, mon !!! I found lots of tiny, annoying leaks..no one of
    any danger...

First issue to address, fresh or salt water?? If taste test is not
appropriate, best advice I had here on T&T was to boil a tablespoon or so water and see
    if any salt residue remains.
I have been working for five years to get my Hatteras bilge absolutely
dry...Still fussing with small amounts of water.... Here are water sources I have
    identified:
Chain locker...my drain holes to forward bilge, too much work to bother...
Main windshield leak...still have one small section that drips in heavy
downpours...my favorite caulk did not stop it, don't know why...
Anchor Windlass...heavy rain comes in chain drop hole (I epoxied the balsa
core during installation of a new winch to assure no deck moisture intrusion, a
common problem on cored decks,..windlass cover in winter solves this in the
    off season...
Shaft stuffing boxes....installed cutoff pails under with small float switch
    bilge pump,
Rudder stuffing boxes...snug up at the end of each season...maybe 1/16 or
less turn does it,These are sufficiently outboard to allow water to run along
stringer into engine room bilge forward....Rudder Stuffing box thru bolts all ok,
    no leak...
When I first bought the boat, found a cracked LECTRASAN oozing crapola into
    bilge,
Engines...when full of antifreeze, could drip...from pressure cap
tubing...installed automotive type overflow tanks (love em!!!)
Engines, genny...loose hose clamps could drip; during refurbursh..had all
    hoses replaced,
Engines..Heat exchanger gaskets ooze...had them replaced when exchangers
    boild,cleaned and pressure tested,
Hot water tank dripping...replaced it,tank was eaten thru.
Cockpit deck side drains...empty into bilge; drilled hole in air vent recess
    and added clear vinyl tubing,
Cockpit drains...around hatches drained into bilge...connec ted drain tube to
bilge pump discharge line (they were inches apart, lucked out here!!!
Some water still gets in cockpit bilge in heavy rain, hatch edges I think
admit water...installed switch for aft bilge pump for manual activation...unsure
if this could ever drain forward to engine room..
Port salon window oozed in downpours..removed and rebedded the aluminum
frame...also enabled me to get a new sofa in the saloon...barely!!!!
Moist forward stateroom floor:only in rough weather..discovered a shower
discharge fitting out the hull side needed rebedding; then found water could be
forced up the discharge line into the sump..installed a check valve...
Snow...blows in strange places, melts..not sure this gets to bilge...
Bilge pump discharge hose..found one taped which dripped when pump
    ran...replaced hose...
Strut bolts thru hull.Checked these, all ok..took a while to find them under
    aft cabin floor!!
Fresh water system: if pump runs occassionally, there is a leak somewhere,
unless it's aft hot water cools and contracts reducing pressure.
