According to the stickers on the batteries they were coming up on 5 years
which is pretty good for south florida.
Comment GREAT POINT we may not have discussed recently. Hi ambient
temperatures as in an engine room are awful for batteries. And so is excessive heat from
improper charging. So keep them as low as possible but not in bilge water in
an engine room, run a fan to help cool your enginee room off for an hour or
two after engine shut down, vent the engine room as much as possible, or install
a heavily used battery bank in a cooler compartment. A typical 12 volt fan
will burn 1 amp hour when cooling for an hour, a tiny drain. While starting
batteries with the extremely high current loads may need to be close to starters,
house banks can often be located elsewhere without having to add such huge
cables. Inverter loads may prevent such relocation unless the inverter can be
    colocated as well.
