Offline,
I don't have any specific price information on Whalebacks, but I do have some
general observations.
In general, higher priced boats of any brand name, that is, ones that are
less of a value, are on the market Longer. Price and time are market are usually
linked: I always prefer to see a boat that has been seriously on the market a
year or more so the seller has already gotten the bad news from others. Most
boats for sale that I have seen have been neglected. (I'd also like to see a
boat immediately as it comes on market, just in case it's a real steal, but I've
never been successful with this approach.)
Also, you can search online for NADA used boat prices, or other sources, for
sale prices unless the boat is too old to be listed. Finally, if a boat of
your type is for sale, just telephone and inquire about it, ask the broker what
price he/she thinks is likely for a boat in her condition...You'll learn a lot
about the selling broker, too, based on their stated rationale.
Nothing beats looking at other models of your boat for sale as you travel.
(I've seen four or five sisterships to mine since I've owned her...it's an eye
opener because of poor condition of most boats.) You can then personally
compare your boat with others you've seen...just like the buyer is likely to do...
