Any pilot light is wired in parallel to the bilge pump so the light goes on
    when the pump goes on.
The most reliable system is multiple pumps from separate batteries, each
individually fused at or near the source (as electric panel).
An additional safety guard are separate float switches, wired in parallel, on
a separate circuit, connected to an audible and or visual alarm indicator
    near the helm.
