I was doing some research on marine propulsion and ran across this company.
Here is a negative.
The Marinizer (MER) does not have a world wide presence.
On the other hand, at least some if not all the engines are based on
Isuzu blocks. Isuzu has a world wide presence, is partially owned by
GM and their engines have an excellent reputation. They are known to
be quiet, low vibration and parts are widely available. Documentation
in paper seems to be good, but I am not sure if PDF versions are available.
The MP-70 is a 70 hp, non turbocharged engine with chromed liners,
direct injection. It is based on the Isuzu 4JB1 block with 169 cubic
inches, displacement. This is not a high rpm engine.
The 89 hp engine is not turbocharged, but all the larger ones are.
Direct injection means there is no pre combustion chamber, less soot.
Cylinder liners means you can re sleeve the engine without having to
re bore the block. Makes it easier to rebuild the engine without
removing it from the boat.
From what I can find out Marine Engine Repair (MER) has an excellent
reputation. They are based in Seattle and I would guess their main
market has been the commercial fishing fleet.
