I have been on a waiting list forever to get a slip at Marjore Park, (a
small basin marina on Davis Island) in Tampa. It has been recently
renovated with new floating docks. I received a certified letter from the
city the other day telling me that a slip was available for me, but -- if I
wanted it -- I had to "move in" immediately. I am moving in this weekend.

My current slip is at Harbor Island, a small residential island adjacent to
downtown Tampa. The slip is an easy walk to a great grocery store, some
super restaurants, the Ice Palace (where the Tampa Bay Lightning play), the
Channel Side District (more night spots, movies, etc.), and the cable car to
Ybor City (Tampa's version of bourbon street).

My lease requires 30 days notice, which I gave October 31 -- so I am stuck
with double lease payments and two slips for the month of November. I have
only one boat, though, so my loss is your gain!

My Harbor Island slip will be vacant beginning Saturday morning, November 5,
through the end of the month. The slip has plenty of water (10'+), is
probably 18 feet wide, and will handle a 50ish foot boat (mine is 44' LOA
and 14.5' wide and it fits with plenty of room to spare).

Not to borrow a catch phrase . . . . . but an empty slip is a terrible thing
to waste. If there is anyone in the Tampa area or planning to visit in
November, I have a slip for your use. If you need a Tampa base during
November, please send me an e-mail and I will let you know if it is
available and give you the directions and a few earth.google maps to get you
to the slip. If it has already been spoken for, I will let you know. It's
a great slip, so I certainly hope it doesn't go to waste.

    Alan
