Greetings,
I ended up yanking the shower sump reservoir because there was always
some water lying in the bottom of it. With a float switch, it never
completely emptied. Besides that, steam would rise out of the reservoir
after a hot shower and I never could keep the bilge under the forward
stateroom completely dry. <KK42> Eventually the odor crept underneath the
bed and into the stateroom. I tried modifying it, but ended up hard piping
<hosing> the showers through a small sea strainer <to capture the hair etc>
and then to a diaphragm pump. In each head, I installed a 15 min mechanical
timer, so when you take a shower you have to turn on the timer, which starts
the pump. I had a similar setup in another boat except without the timer.
Just a switch in the shower but usually one would forget to turn it off,
hence time timer option. This has worked great and the forward bilge is DRY!
Respectfully,
Ken
