If memory serves me right (which quite often it doesn't anymore) Bestway was
a yard in Asia which not only exported boats under their own name but also
built boats for Marine Trader which they marked under the LaBelle name for a
few years. I have a foggy recollection of rumors floating around the boating
community back in the 80"s about a legal battle Marine Trader was waging
against Bestway at that time about some quality issues with the LaBelle imports.
The new Bestway and LaBelle models disappeared from the scene shortly after
this happened. I think that you will note that the Bestway and the LaBelle
are quite similar in appearance if you look at pictures of them, and may have
been the same boats with different labels.
