Storm Surge? This is the big fear for those in hurricane-land. A hurricane
moves in a counter clockwise motion and it is a terribly strong motion with
a category 4 hurricane! The areas to the east (3 o'clock) side of the eye
are going to get the worst of the storm and the water is pushed to shore on
that side. The water on the west (9 o'clock) side is then sucked OUT or away
from land. In a serious case, the water on the east side can show up as a
huge wall of water. The water is more of a problem in a hurricane than the
wind. In Pensacola, it was the wall of water that washed out the I-10 bridge
not the wind. It is the flooding that destroys marinas not wind.
