To Board Members, Friends and Fellow SALMers,
As one of the few Miami/Dade -- or even So. Florida residents -- with
electricity and thus certain Internet access, Harry requested that I
pass on the following information:
THERE IS GOOD NEWS:
Even tho' there is some cleaning up to do, SALM has come through Katrina relatively unscathed
SALM will be open tomorrow, Saturday [8/27/05].
There was some damage: The bow of the trimaran was smashed -- above the waterline, luckily -- by a 40 footer that was blown onto her.
Capt. Lou's boat was damaged.
A few Freedoms' jibs were torn. One Freedom's mast was bent.
A trailer hit the building's door and punctured it.
One of the hangar's walls sustained some damage.
Any and all hands willing to help in the Katrina cleanup today
-- and for the next few days -- will be greatly appreciated.
