Was it exposed to the elements? I put the auto one that came with my
Audiovox and the flybridge consol, expose to the elements and it died. Now I
use the home one in the car - it works. The Shakespeare is closer to $56 and
    the Terk's price is dropping.

    |I installed an X M radio last yr. in prep for our Southern Circle Cruise
    | using the little 50 cent size antenna that came in the automobile kit
    and
    | it worked great on the entire cruise. We found no need for the
    "marine"
    | version at $100.
    | We were North to abt. 250 miles south of Chicago and as far East as
    | Nashville,Tn. ; West to Tulsa, Oklahoma and South to the Gulf of Mexico.
