Paul, if I had been able to locate a "laptop display that is sunlight
readable" I would have bought it. But I was unable to find any that were
bright enough. I bought the Solarism and am quite happy with it, whether
using it from the lower helm in ambient filtered sunlight or up on the
flying bridge, partially shielded by the Bimini top. I typically operate
from the flying bridge with only the front center of isinglass opened up,
thus there is a bit less direct sunlight than if there were no Bimini at
all. But the Solarism's four levels of illumination seem to handle the
sunlight just fine.

Subject: T&T: Sunlight readable monitors
I know that this topic has been discussed before but now that I am at the
point of wanting to purchase it is now on my short list. Previously,
Solarism monitors were recommended. I will be using this on the fly(ing)
bridge as a nav station. I know that Big Bay makes waterproof, but how
important is this if I am not using it truly exposed to weather?
Does anyone have experience, good or bad, with sunlight readable monitors?
Or better yet, a laptop display that is sunlight readable?
Thanks,
Paul Brannon
