    Greetings all,
Just had a very refreshing experience with SHURflo pumps. Crew member messed
up and killed their pump. E-mailed them for part #'s for repair kit and got
all the information I needed in 10 hrs. Great job SHURflo!!! Two years ago I
purchased a new Avon 9' RIB from West Marine in late Sept. Didn't open box
until late March of the following year. Discovered then that there was a
leak in one side. Called WM and they advised they would send new dingy and
after reciept please pack defective RIB in new box, call and advise when
ready and would schedule pickup, which they did. Happy camper for sure !!!
Now to the recent experiences again. Headed north on the Florida ICW with TS
Arlene breathing down our necks. Pulled into Grand Mariner marina in Dog
river to refuel and after refueling was advised by dockmaster that from
weather service forcasts, that we would be safer across the river to Dog
River marina, which we did, and was welcomed by a very nice dockmaster Rick.
As we headed north up the Tenn-Tom we hit some strong currents and trash
before we arrived at Demopolis Yacht Basin. Had a problem with a raw water
cooling pump on the port engine, and not only received the parts we needed,
but the proper advice to solve our problem. Used their courtesy car to
restock and headed north. This is the 6th time we've enjoyed this stop. As
we headed north, unaware that a problem was developing. The port engine
ignition switch had shorted out and kept the starter engaged. Zapped the
starter and starter drive. Thats where the great folks at Marina Cove came
into play. Capt Dave's dad not only loaned us his personal car but gave us a
heads up on where to get a new ignition switch, but where to get the starter
repaired. Went back south to Demopolis Generator & Starter, where the father
& son fixed us up and sent us back to the boat. Carquest auto parts also
helped a lot. This great hospitality went on and on as we headed up the
waterway. Thanks to all those great people!! Your blood pressure has to rise
when you spend a bunch of bandwidth ranting about a $20 dingy seat, instead
of giving credit to the majority who are doing great.
    Cheers,
    Dick
