    submit that it depends on the hull. My almost full-displacement LRC can
    do just shy of 6k without a wake...my idle speed is 3k. A Fleming 55 at
    6k has quite a wake from its planing hull. And the shorter the LWL, the
    lower the speed to get to 'no wake.'"

    Just to further expound, in Florida we have no-wake zones AND places
    where idle speed is required. You can legally be above idle speed in a
    no-wake zone if you are leaving no wake.
