The refrigerant in your Norcold may be a blend or azeotrope. If so, you
can't just top it off, since a leak may allow the refrigerant to escape
but not in proportionate amounts relative to the blend.
I do HVAC for a living (25+ yrs.) I have all the gauges, gizmos, &
equipment.
I'd NEVER attempt a repair on a self-contained refrigerator. I'd toss it
& get a new one.
Norcold had some compressor problems with units produced around 2000, I
have one, it wouldn't cool. I had a factory service tech do a warranty
replacement of the compressor, it's worked fine since. Other than a
compressor replacement, I can't think of any other justification for a
refrigerant side repair. Controls or other electrical item, sure. But
refrigerant, Naaah.
