T&T: Filling Filters

I am catching up after being away a few days, but I did not note anybody
coming up with the obvious solution to the problem of getting fresh diesel
    fuel to new, dry filters.

Why don't y'all just add a small fuel pump into the system before any
filters with a valved bypass? Fifty bucks tops will solve all this issue of
carrying fuel in unsafe containers in unsafe places. A talented mechanic
did this for me in 1987, shortly after I bought the current boat. Run some
12VDC to the pump, put in a switch to turn it on and off, and put a bypass
around it with a valve in the line.

When it is time to prime, open the bleeder screw on the filter holder, turn
on the pump, and shut the valve to the bypass so the pump pressurizes the
    system.
