When we first bought "Waypoint", we had the same problem on the port
transmission. At the time, I thought that it was due to a little water in
the transmission left over from a failed cooler that the PO replaced. I
have always drained the tranny from the bottom oil cooler hose during fluid
changes to make sure there is no water left in the bottom. The problem of
burping out of the breather seems to have lessened considerably. I have
noticed that it only takes about 2 quarts of fluid for an oil change whereas
the manual states that the capacity is 4 quarts. What has been the
experience of others?
I believe that the port transmission has the counter rotating feature to
change the prop rotation and this might have something to do with the
problem. Could it be that the gears inside the port transmission are
throwing oil at the breather vent?
