a few years back i did a visit to 5 NS boatyards, all fishing boat
builders trying to get into the "yacht" game.

some of the NS fishing boats are quite bizarre designs because
of the crazy Canadian rules. the Canadian government issued an
edict that impacted many fishing boats - saying they could be at
most 42' long. this caused builders to respond with boats where
the length/beam ratio is approaching 2, and these are monohulls!

not all of them are that goofy, though (grin)

if you want a metal boat from NS, find one built by A.F. Theriault & Sons.

or have them build you one. they build boats for the North Atlantic
and they are deadly serious about bringing them back safely.

Athur's yard is in Meteghan on the Arcadian coast of NS. great people.
when they launch a boat, they have a *serious* party that lasts
    several days.

if i wanted a boat with the look of Real Steel, that's where I'd go.

            cheer,
            -mo
