I'm not sure I understand why Pascal would be getting such an obvious
vibration from his a/c pump? I truely do not notice any such vibration from
mine. By my way of thinking, these are centrifical pumps and the only way one
should get any noticeable vibration would be if something in the pump were to
be out of balance or perhaps a bent shaft or something along those lines?
With regard to comments about using a shallow well jet pump to supply water to
the condensing units? I had considered that, in fact I have two such pumps
aboard now, one for deck wash and the other used in the fresh water system.
Some of the reports indicate that this system is working well, however my
research on the subject led me to believe that a shallow well jet pump would
not stand up to the rigors of continous use and exposure to salt water. In
fact I just replaced my deck wash down pump after only six years of very
intermittent use and less than one year of use in salt water. The pump head
had corroded horribly causing the unit to sieze. On the other hand, the a/c
pump I just replaced showed no signs of corrosion after 24 years of use, it
simply failed because the bearings finally wore out.
