Hi John,
I haven't seen an answer to your question yet so, even though I don't
exactly have the answer either, here's a suggestion:
There's a section in the Baldwin Filter catalog that lists their
filters by size rather than application or cross-reference.
Presumably, many other filter manufacturers like Donaldson and Wix
will have a similar listing. Armed with either your old filter or its
measurements*, you can probably find what you need at a filter
jobber/distributor or at a 'traditional' auto parts store such as NAPA
or CarQuest. [Discounters like Schucks could probably help you as
well, but I would have more faith in dealing with a more experienced
counterman than you're likely to find at a discount store.]
*you'll need the following dimensions:
A. For a round filter;
Length or thickness
Outside Diameter
Inside Diameter
B. For an oval filter;
Length or thickness
Maximum outside diameter
Maximum inside diameter
C. For a panel filter;
Length
Width
Thickness
If you filter is conical in shape you'd probably better figure on
taking it with you.
Dimensionally yours,
Alex
