    Hello to All!
We are back from our month in the Keys. Had a great, if windy trip. We
traveled as far down as the Marquesas and as for up as Key Largo. Marathon is
a great place for a crew change and we spent four nights in a slip at Marathon
Yacht Club (two nights at a time) and the rest of the time at anchor. About
half of the anchorages were new to us and the other half were old friends.

We were very pleased with our switch to an all-chain anchor rode. We anchored
with only one anchor usually with 3 to 1 or 5 to 1 scope. The boat didn't
sail as much as with rope rode. 1/2" nylon snubber worked great, especially
after I stitched on a leather chaffing strip to help quiet it down.

Our email with our Verizon cell phone worked great. I was able to keep up
with my business email as well as personal. Between that and my Nextel cell
phone/two-way-radio to talk to me office I was hardly missed. I suspect that
having good employees has quite a bit to do with that. I did turn off the
Great Loop list as well as the T&T list, mainly because we do our email after
9 PM when it is free and I have a hard time staying awake to read the posts.

I was amazed to be called up on the VHF by total strangers who recognized the
boat from this list! I guess it is a small world.

Its good to be back home and back on-line.
    Best Regards,
    Randy Pickelmann
