Thanks to all who responded with regard to my question about Oxalic acid and
the Muratic/Oxalic solution for cleaning heat exchangers. However, after
initial plans to use that solution I changed horses in mid-stream after
reading about the system reported on the Hatteras Owners forum using
Phosphoric acid and a recycling system consisting of a 5 gal bucket, hose and
a submersible bilge pump. As I reported last night, I used the system to
clean my refer heat exchanger and had very satisfactory results.

Hello Jim The oxalic acid is important it improves the result and controls
the time that the muriatic is working. I know its hard to find I had to search
about 6 paint stores before finding it but I would still go thru the trouble
muriatic even diluted might harm the exchanger.
Good Luck
Brian
