Chet, yes I've successfully used the old reliable Newmar intercom system on
two different chargers, and both included flyingbridge locations for one
receiver. Now both of these flying bridges were covered fully with Bimini
tops and canvas and the telephone receivers were both installed in doored
cabinets below the helm, which permitted their storage in semi-secure
locations kept away from spray except when being used.
They are far more rugged than Consumer Electronics lets on, I would not be
reluctant to install one on a flyingbridge location, provided that it wasn't
placed to get regular soakings.

Mine is by Newmar. Check it out at Consumes Marine Electronics. Go to
www.consumersmarine.com and search for "intercom"
It sure beats having to shout from the flybridge to the aft master
stateroom!

Miami Boat Show this past February, I noticed the ad for the Newmar
telephone system in ConsumerMarine's hand-out catalog. I had been looking
for a telephone (intercom) system appropriate for communication between the
flybridge, various locations below and preferrably a noise canceling handset
for use in the engine room.
I asked the people at the Consumer Marine booth about this system. their
response: cannot be used on an outdoor flybridge; only use in full indoor
cabin.
The only suggestion that they could provide for communication from the
bridge to other cabins was to use the remote mike function on VHF radios
that have this capability. Of course, this solution only gives
communication from the bridge to the pilot house or salon (depending upon
where you locate your cabin VHF).
Has anyone successfully used the Newmar system on an open flybridge?
