Listees,
I have a close friend who has the following question.
My question is about the effects of trim tabs. We just bought a used 46'
Grand Banks (41,000 pounds) that has trim tabs to assist "getting up on
plane". She has two 420hp Cat 3126s.
How can you tell when the trim tab assist is needed? If you put the trim tabs
down (bow down) at speeds below the optimum, is the boat slowed? Similarly,
if you leave them down too long, is the boat slowed? What sort of benefit can
one expect in terms of speed under different conditions?
Thanks,
Phil Pennington
